Each student has an opportunity for growth in terms of self-confidence, self-worth, and learn daily living skills that will lead to greater independence.  Students have a place to go where they have friends and where they can do things together that makes life more worthwhile.

All courses are in a supervised setting that encourages learning, friendships, social interaction and socialization. Students can learn good work habits and skills, along with developing a good attitude for getting along with others and proper social behavior.

A course in understanding individual rights, personal safety, non-discrimination and no bullying is provided upon enrollment to all students.

For the capable and interested students, selected community outings are available to put some of what they have learned into practice. Examples of this are:

  • Visiting local attractions like Big Cat Rescue and the Sarasota Museum of Art
  • Social and recreational activities

Computer Lab

Classes focus on:

  • Typing skills
  • Safe internet navigation
  • Where to find games to play
  • Exploring tutorials to increase academic skills 

Educational Activities

Classes are taught to assist students in learning to live more independently. Individual programs based on the interest and abilities of the student. Activities like:

Health & Wellness

Classes revolve around staying healthy and maximizing wellness through good nutrition, personal hygiene, and exercise. Students are taught:

  • How to shop
  • What to buy for healthy living
  • Why healthy living is important

  • Making a credit card purchase and payment

Relaxation/Stress Management Program

Program allows the individual to learn relaxation techniques that promote wellness and reduce stress. 


Classes focus on improving social interactions as part of living a happy life. Students learn to:

  • Take turns 
  • Be respectful of personal space
  • Read body language and facial expressions

Therapeutic-Activity Program

Program promotes an increase in independent functioning, all of which promote a happier, healthier and more independent life. We include activities such as:
